More than 400 fruit trees planted in Temeke, Dar es Salaam

As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment and sustainability agenda, we have planted over 400 fruit trees across 10 schools in Temeke, Dar es Salaam on 11th July 2026. The initiative was led by our CEO & Managing Director, Zahid Mustafa alongside I&M Bank colleagues, in partnership with Friends of I&M, our partner ATI, and the Georgina Foundation. More than planting trees, this initiative is about caring for our environment, creating greener schools, and encouraging students to protect the world around them. In the years to come, these trees will provide shade for students, bear fruit for the school communities, and help create a healthier environment for everyone. Speaking during the event, Zahid Mustafa emphasized the importance of acting today for a better tomorrow, sharing the timeless reminder: "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second-best time is today." Together with our partners, students, teachers, and volunteers, we are proud to play our part in building a greener and more sustainable future.

I&M Bank Tanzania Launches Initiative to Restore Mangrove

On Saturday 31st January, I&M Bank staff, alongside the CEO and Managing Director Mr. Zahid Mustafa came together in Tundwi Songani - Kigamboni to plant 20,000 mangrove seedlings, reinforcing our commitment to climate action and community resilience.

Mangroves are critical to protecting coastlines, supporting marine life, and storing carbon, making their restoration both an environmental and community investment.

This initiative reflects how I&M links financial inclusion with environmental responsibility, with one mangrove tree planted for every 100 women financed, connecting inclusive finance with climate action.

The activity was delivered in collaboration with our Friends of I&M, including African Transformative Initiative (ATI)  and Sustainable World Initiative (SWI), with valued support from the Tundwi Songani community, local government authorities, and Tanzania Forest Services.
