I&M Bank (T) Limited believes positively in national development hence took a chance in supporting the government on the road upgrade construction project in front of the school of Arusha.
One of the bank's Corporate Social Responsibility pillars is to support the development of the Education sector, thus the bank initiated to support the improvement of the infrastructure nearby the school so the students utilizing it experience comfortable education.
I&M Bank (T) Limited supported the campaign to combat malaria for children with disabilities on world malaria day held at Karimjee Hall on 21st April 2013. I&M Bank (T) limited donated TZS 5,000,000 for this noble cause.
As part of the 10 years anniversary celebrations, I&M Bank Tanzania handed over a donation of 100 desks and chairs to Mrisho Gambo Secondary School in Arusha. The handing over the event was held in Arusha on January 16th, 2020, and graced by Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Vocational Training, Hon Prof. Joyce Ndalichako in the presence of Arusha Regional Commissioner, Hon. Mrisho Gambo and other regional leaders.
Speaking at the handing over event, I&M Bank Tanzania CEO, Mr. Baseer Mohammed said that the donation of 100 desks and chairs worth TZS 10 Million is a clear testament to the Bank’s continued determination as an institution not only in delivering convenient and reliable services but also ensure that it contributes in the welfare of the society in the markets that it operates.
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibilities initiatives, I&M Bank (T) Ltd participated in the fundraising dinner that was organized by Kisarawe District Commissioner Hon. Jokate Mwegelo on 30th March, 2019. The drive behind organizing the dinner was to raise the funds for the construction of a new girl’s only secondary school at Kisarawe District which is located 18 Km North East of Dar es Salaam City. The plan of constructing the school is part of the District Commissioner’s campaign dubbed “Tokomeza Zero” envisioned to improve the performance of female students and eliminate zero pass marks for all secondary schools in Kisarawe.
The Bank pledged to construct a library of the planned school which will cost TZS 20,000,000/= whereby the pledge was presented by the Board Director of I&M Bank (T) Ltd, Ambassador Bertha Semu Somi. The fundraising dinner was graced by the presence of the Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Vocational Training, Hon. Prof. Joyce Ndalichako who represented Vice President of Tanzania, Hon. Samia Suluhu Hassan. Other senior government officials who attended the dinner include the Minister of State in the President’s Office, Hon. Suleiman Jafo and Minister of Tourism, Hon. Hamisi Kigwangalla.
I&M Bank (T) Limited continued its support to underprivileged students in Dar es Salaam. The school comprises of Blind, Deaf, and Dumb students.
I&M Bank (T) Limited donated learning items, toys, and foodstuff for this noble cause amounting to TZS 5 Million only. The amount also included contributions made by the bank staff from their salaries for this noble cause.
The bank contributed 390 blankets to victims endeavored the earthquake that took place on 10th September 2016. It is usually cold in that area hence the bank decided to donate blankets instead of remitting cash as there a high chances of it being misused.
Our Moshi Branch handed over the blankets to the Ministry who then sent it to Kagera.
On 11th October 2015, I&M Staff along with the Head of Business Support donated 200KG of Rice to SOS Children’s Village. The occasion was marked with a visit to the children’s rooms to show how the children live. They have provided four bed room dormitories where 10 children live under one mother. The children felt loved, accepted within the society and had an eventful Sunday after playing games and having lunch with the staff. The Director of SOS Children’s Village was very thankful for this contribution and having spent the weekend with the kids.
Inline to provide a conducive environment to street vendors, I&M Bank (T) limited provided umbrellas to the roadside vendors for them to protect themselves against the hot sun and rain. Around 150 street vendors appreciated the I&M umbrellas from three different regions (i.e. Arusha, Dar es Salaam, and Mwanza).
